Interactive Images: Interactivity Level 3

At level three, your interactive image activities incorporate a custom design that animates components crafted using your organization’s brand and visual identity. Your interactive image contains clickable hotspots for your learners to explore and offers additional transitions as information appears while your learners interact.

Considerations for interactive images

Information must be carefully curated by its relevance to the visuals to prevent learners from experiencing cognitive overload when they engage in the activity.

Remember that an interactive image is still an image! Make sure that the alt-text is descriptive and, depending on the requirements of the course, that the activity’s interactions are accessible to screen readers and keyboard navigation.

Avoid interactive images if the interactivity doesn’t add deeper understanding or meaning to the content.

Interactivity for interactivity’s sake can be distracting and confusing for learners, and shouldn’t be used to mask poor design or to overload learners with information that should have been broken up into separate activities.
